Château Dassault

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2018 Dassault sings of stewed plums, boysenberries and Black Forest cake, followed by hints of lilacs, star anise, fragrant earth and crushed rocks. The medium to full-bodied palate has a rock-solid frame of grainy tannins and a lively backbone cutting through the densely packed, black fruit layers, finishing with a floral lift.

Deep ruby colour. Coffee and raisins on the nose with a hint of fresh mint. A slightly baked impression that signifies the heat of the vintage. Soft and plush on entry before surprisingly high acidity to counteract the fruit and oak sweetness. Slightly pinched on the finish.

Blackberries, dark cherries and blueberries with some earthy notes. Spice and cigar-box, too. Full-bodied with a savory texture and firm tannins. Clove and crushed-stone undertones. Clean, flavorful finish with length. Try after 2024.
